The Best Of Tony Mottola

3 Feb

This album collects tracks from Tony’s pre-quad albums that were specially remixed for this release.

One point i must make is with regards the first track. The guitar is mixed low in relationship to the rest of the instruments. In fact it sounds like the effects track alone, without the main guitar track being switched in. Possibly a rush job and somehow went un-missed?

Supersonic Quadraphonic Sound Spectacular

This is one of the most interesting quad compilation albums i’ve come across, put out by Australian label ‘Interfusion’ using remixed tracks from some of its artists. The odd thing is that this seems to be the only quad album they put out, not one of the artists contained on here had their respective albums appears to have been released in quad.

There are a few gems on here, one being the track “One Fine Morning” by the band ‘Lighthouse’ which was a hit in the USA  and the quad remix would appear to be only available on this compilation. Unfortunately the pressing is not of the highest quality, i apologise as there are some artefacts here and there.

I would appreciate some feedback regarding the perceived improvements (or not)

I’ve been holding this back for some little while now but as the minutes tick away towards the end of 2016 i felt i needed to get this out so i can reissue some of the previously released EV-4 albums that are filling my release HDD.

This is the first EV-4 album to be released having been decoded by the latest of my ‘Mythical’ processes to incorporate the principles of H.O.P. (Heart Of Phoenix).

Due to the basic nature of the EV-4 matrix, and after a couple of attempts previously, i didn’t believe it was possible to incorporate H.O.P. into the decoding process, but yet another flash of inspiration a month or so ago finally led to the creation of ‘Dryad’.

The improvements are much in line with the other process’, although obviously not as effective. There is a small increase in separation with a more stable image, an improvement in low-level detail and, in general, a cleaner sounding decode.

I would appreciate some feedback as to whether the improvements are audible, especially when some of the tracks were used in AOQ’s recent EV-4 ‘shoot-out’ (you did partisipate, didn’t you?) so comparisons can be easily done.

p.s. This is a new transfer done especially for this release.

Beaver & Krause – In A Wild Sanctuary

Beaver & Krause - In A Wild Sanctuary DS500c front

I’ve had this sitting around for so long… it’s good to finally get it out there. Previously unlisted as being a quad release, this may not be everyone’s ‘cup-of-tea’ but it’s an interesting mixture of experimental ideas (at least for the early 1970’s). So give it a try…
