The mix is at least… interesting. The sound is very nice for a live performance and it’s always nice to hear new versions of songs from GG.

Not entirely to my musical tastes, but there are some tracks I like. The quad mix isn’t great, it has moments where it becomes interesting but for the most part it just fills in the back of the room and makes itself known most during applause.

There’s this strange effect where the applause in the rears has a different tonal character and seems to start and stop at different times to the applause in the fronts. Did they mix in a canned applause track, is it an effect of where the microphones were placed in the room or is it Matrix HJ showing it’s problems?

There are some issues with the mix, at ties it’s almost amaturish so i’d guess whatever your hearing is one of those problems. Real shame, but then they did state the quad broadcasts were ‘test transmissions’, just never imagined it also meant that it meant the mixing as well.

Hi OD… very cool release but I have a question… if I already have the DVD what’s the difference in the way it will sound?

The audio on the DVD is encoded in the second of the BBC’s quadraphonic system, Matrix HJ and this release is that decoded.

I assume this means the audio on the DVD is presented as stereo. This release decodes that to quad.
