Thanks for the response – I will give it another go in the future.

Found this a bit murky – I thought it might be a Q8 until I checked back on the site. Disappointed with the mix, too. It was remixed by Jeff Wayne, the original producer (with an engineer), so I thought that augured well. But it’s not as adventurously mixed as I’d hoped. Particularly disappointed with the title track. It’s a quirky arrangement but sadly the quad mix doesn’t do it justice. I wanted the beats and vocals bouncing around the room!

Even so, good to hear it. Shame that the recent remaster/reissue didn’t include this quad mix.

Having escaped from four days of work in the audio room, i decided to just do some listening and remembered your comments.

There’s not actually a lot going on musically on this album so there’s a limit what could be done without it sounding ‘gimicky’, which i feel, would spoil the album and not something you’d want to listen too much.

The fronts, basically, is the main musical mix with the rears being used as support, with effects and the odd vocal and instrument adding some additional depth to the mix.

As to it being ‘a bit murky’, i’ve never thought that. It’s actually nice to hear an album that has got cymbals and the like crashing everywhere drowning out the main instruments, so it’s actually a ‘Pre-Peter Gabriel’ type mix, which i do rather like 🙂
