ELO - ELO DS39p front

With Jeff Lynne returning to the stage with another version of ELO it seems only fitting to reissue the first album, along with two bonus tracks from the second album, ELO – II. The tracks are ‘In Old England Town’ & ‘From The Sun To The World’

Reissue: (D) New decode

Release: DS39p

Source: SQ CD

Process: ‘Phoenix’

I listened to this a few days ago so I can’t be too specific. Some of the songs are good and show signs of what ELO became, and some are just awful with little musicality to them. Mix and quad wise I just can’t remember I’m afraid.

Such a shame their masterpiece Mr. Blue Sky was never mixed in quad, such a totally over the top “never knowingly undersold” track would surely have benefited from quad.

Ah, last time you put out just the two tracks on ELO II as a separate decode. I agree it makes more sense to bundle them here as extra tracks.

It makes a nice set, and is the best sounding version too boot…

Plus those are the last two tracks Roy Wood played on (originally uncredited) before leaving to form Wizzard, so in a way they are more related to the 1st album than the 2nd.

I enjoy the DVD-A a lot. Sure wish the entire second album had quad mixes–would love to hear “Kuiama” in that format. Re the new “Jeff Lynne’s ELO” album, call me old fashioned but I always thought an orchestra should be composed of more than one person 😉
