Gladys Knight & The Pips – Imagination

27 Apr

Gladys Knight & The Pips- Imagination CB044 frontLink

From 1973 ‘Imagination’ was Gladys Knight & The Pips 11th studio album and their 1st release on Buddah after leaving Motown. This includes their signature song ‘Midnight Train To Georgia’ which was their only #1 on the Billboard Top 100. This album also spawned several other successful singles which you may recall. According to the Quadraphonic Discography the quad mix was available on Q4 as well as Q8 and was their only quad title. This conversion is from a Q8 graciously provided by lupineassassin. Enjoy CB

This LP has been a favorite of mine since its original release. Positive I wore the hide off several copies. Of course this is another one of those Q8 only quad titles. This tape was provided by rockysquirrrel and I greatly appreciate the opportunity to convert this particular title. Enjoy CB

‘From The Front Row…’ The DVD-A Rip-Off

15 Apr

I guess many here will not know of the series of ‘in concert’ DVD-A/V’s that were put out by Silverline that promised “Stunning 5.1 Surround Sound”. They even had a THX logo.

But what you got was a substandard attempt at a 5.1 up-mix that added nothing to the listening experience. I’m playing one of them at the moment, basically just to remind myself how underwhelming they were, while working on next weeks classical release and was wondering if any of you were duped as i was.
