When originally released in 1973 this LP was a CD-4 exclusive and not re-released in stereo until 1980. A rather common quad record with the Q4 being somewhat harder to find. This tape was provided by member Steve Tuznik. Enjoy CB
As many of you know there has been an issue with regards to the hardware used here. Through it’s time the blog has gone through similar crises but a number of things have combined to bring things to a head bringing the continuation of the blog into question.
There has been some considerable thought and discussion regarding the situation, with a number of possibilities being considered. One of them is the level of donation required. Rather than just decide I thought it best to put the idea to a vote and then decide on the viability of the blog once all the votes are in. This poll will run for 5 days, ending at midnight Friday 27th March.
Released in 1973 and only available in quad format on… yes Virginia you guessed it the old Q8 cartridge. This example was provided by ‘rockysquirrrel’. We should be thankful for Rocky’s contributions who has contributing several tapes that are offered here on the blog. We all benefit from his generosity.
It should be noted that we discover yet another Q8 that has misaligned channels from the factory. While listening it became apparent that something was amiss. The entire sound-scape was turned 90° to the left. A quick twist of 90° to the right provided a fix. Back in 1973 the only way to achieve such a fix was to rearrange your patch cords. Unless you were in your automobile which this format was primarily intended. It was things such as this that would have put off the consumer for quad back in day don’t you think. Never the less here we are now and if you have an opinion or comment concerning what you do or don’t hear please feel welcome to share it. Enjoy CB
Broadcast on the ‘King Biscuit Flower Hour’ show in the USA on 10th March 1974, this show contained extracts from the full concert, which was then used in a more complete form for the 3 LP release “Welcome Back My Friends…”
Many thanks to Carl Plaster for tracking this source down.
