This is an Original Cast record, not a Soundtrack. My parents were musical fans. They took me to see the show several times when it toured in the late 70s. The girls in the cast were all very professional and talented. They were chosen from many, many thousands who auditioned. To say that they are off key on this recording is unfair and badly mis-informed. However, any group of young ladies singing together loudly will sound a bit on the shrill side. Their role was to fill the theater with no amplification. The girl chorus is integral to the story and there was no way to leave it off the stage or the record. Yes, the first track is an Overture, that is why it is titled as such. I am very familiar with the stereo album. Looking forward to hearing the quad for the first time.

Still there for me in the Freebies folder, I just downloaded it. If you think you should have access but don’t you’ll have to ask OD.

The reason i didn’t reply to his comment is because he doesn’t have access to it, he obviously hasn’t done his homework.

        End of subject

I enjoyed more of this than I was expecting. The numbers with children singing off key are quite irritating (“isn’t she cute” is no substitute for being able to sing in tune), but the orchestral sections where rather better than I was expecting and there is some interesting quad mix going on. Mainly the first track was good, perhaps it’s meant to be an overture?

Thank you for this-I’m only familiar with the one or two big numbers,so looking forward to finding what all the fuss was about!

This of course is the ‘original’ soundtrack and nothing to do with the 2014 remake. Thought i’d best mention it.
