Liza Minnelli – The Singer

Liza Minnelli - The Singer DS435p front

Far too often i find myself in disagreement with the reviews on ‘All Music’, with many of them written by someone who either doesn’t like a particular artist/album or who is incapable of being objective.

Personally i feel that they didn’t take the easy way out and just turn out an album of copycat covers, but put some thought into the production of the songs giving them a slightly different spin. Also the mix certainly helps in making this an enjoyable, and repeatable, listen. Of course you may not agree…..

Thanks for this one. An excellent transfer and decode.
This album is a fun listen of cover versions of very familiar songs.

This is the way to do covers, make the songs your own don’t immitate other people. Great arrangments, and plenty of interest in the quad mix. It’s quite active with plenty going on it the rears, there’s some great brass in one of the early tracks. And Minnelli’s voice is well on form here.

I’m glad you shared this album and this mix. It’s really fun! The arrangements are very imaginative, and Liza shows she’s a great entertainer AND singer. Your vinyl rip is excellent, I don’t hear any artifacts, and the decode is spectacular. Thanks! I would never have heard this otherwise.

I agree. What do the critics know? They aren’t paying my bills. I’m not a huge Liza fan and have yet to hear this album. Just the same, I’m looking forward to it.
