I agree with other comments. The quad mix is great and the QS/IIa decode excellent, but musically this is very hard work to listen to. And I don’t like a lot of Jazz in the first place, though calling this Jazz is stretching that term a very long way.

“Quadraphonically” speaking, it very nicely puts you right there in the middle of things. An excellent demonstration of what QS can do.

But musically? I found this a bit of a hard listen. But the mix is very good.

Agree, That’s why I held back “artistic” comment. I kept waiting for a cocktail waitress to ask me if I wanted another scotch. Damn shame she never showed up…but I adhere to my thought that this does show off QS very nicely. 🙂

This mole hill has turned into a mountain… If you think i have an “attitude”, well you have the right to think so, but i don’t… if you wanna read comments made by people with “real” attitude issues, visit The PirateBay…

  4. gregtanner September 4, 2014 at 13:52 #

Like i said i’m not worried about it… i’m not gonna dick around with the torrent settings just for this blog considering this blog is just a small slice of pie compared to all the other blogs i visit daily and every other torrent i download from every other blog is fine…

    • oxforddickie September 4, 2014 at 14:00 #

Well pardon me for trying to help. i won’t bother in future. What an attitude!

    • Owen Smith September 4, 2014 at 14:11 #

In which case I suggest you don’t post any more torrent download issues on this blog, since by your own admission you aren’t prepared to make any changes to try to fix them. All you are doing is creating noise, and confusion for everyone else.

      • oxforddickie September 4, 2014 at 14:17 #

Well try as he might they won’t get pass me! Thanks Owen.

Howard Roberts is such an incredible jazz guitarist, looking forward to hearing this one! Thanks OD, appreciate it. 🙂

I have no idea what you’re talking about, as all other torrents not from here that i activate start downloading straight away if there are seeds, and i download alot of stuff… but i’m not complaining… if freebies from here take a while to get going, and there have only been two like that so far, i’m not worried about it… my second comment wasn’t a complaint…

    • Owen Smith September 4, 2014 at 10:35 #

If you read, understand, and act on what OD has written in the Torrents page you can fix this. Just because many other torrents work from other sites doesn’t mean there isn’t an incompatibility. There are many ways of setting up torrent software, and some of them are completely incompatible with other setups.

I’m writing this not for your sake since you seem determined not to change anything, but for the sake of other readers who may be confused as to what is going on.

For what it’s worth, if it might help anyone, gregtanner’s description matches my experience with the Spring torrent. “connecting to peers 0%”. It was the first time that had ever happened. After confirming, but not changing, settings (with good help here), it was still the same. Next day it worked fine. This one however, took off and ran immediately just as all others from here have done for years. Internet hiccups? 🙂

As for the music, I can hardly believe after hearing so much, looking at so many records, and reading so much about music and musicians, here is a guitarist I’ve heard almost daily for decades (on theme music) and never knew who it was. Then again, it was within recent memory I noticed Hugo Montenegro did the “Jeannie” theme and co-wrote it. There’s a quad tie-in.

I watched six people attempt to connect to me while this was downloading, all failed for one reason. End of subject, am actually pissed off.

        • Owen Smith September 4, 2014 at 14:40 #

          Don’t watch then?

          • oxforddickie September 4, 2014 at 15:04 #

Badly worded, it’s the attitude. But i do have some really good news! email in the post

  7. gregtanner September 4, 2014 at 00:06 #

Left the torrent on over night and it was finished by the time i woke up… as i have said on a previous occasion it’s nothing to do with my settings… i guess for me, at least, every now and then they just take a while to get going…

    • Owen Smith September 4, 2014 at 00:18 #

No, it means someone has downloaded it who has more lax settings in their software than myself and OD, which then allows you to download from them. Fine for freebies, but for low volume donation releases you may find yourself stuck one day.

Thank you, and thanks for making it a freebie. I usually like the Impulse recordings, like Keith Jarrett and Dewey Redman.

I had not heard of Roberts but after listening to samples on Amazon I’m intrigued! From Wikipedia: “Roberts played rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass and mandolin, in the studio and for television and movie projects, including lead guitar on the theme from The Twilight Zone, as well as the classic guitar themes in The Munsters, Bonanza, The Brady Bunch, Green Acres, Get Smart, Batman, Beverly Hillbillies, Andy Griffith, Peter Gunn, Johnny Quest, Gidget, Mannix, Lost in Space, Dragnet, Wild Wild West, Mission Impossible, The Odd Couple, and rhythm guitar on the theme from I Dream of Jeannie.”

Thanks for the information. Didin’t heard of Howard Roberts, too.
Just searching on Youtube – great stuff of HR.

      @O.D. Thank You!

I’ve had this torrent running for 2 hours now but it still says “Connecting To Peers 0.0%”… in other words it’s not downloading… there’s nothing wrong with my connection as i started downloading a movie on uTorrent the same time as your Howard Roberts post… when i click “peers” on the Howard Roberts torrent there isn’t any…

    • oxforddickie September 3, 2014 at 13:47 #

I see one person who is failing to download. The IP address is: 180.216.94.**

Have you checked your settings as per my instructions?

    • Owen Smith September 3, 2014 at 14:01 #

I see 4 peers and one of them is downloading from me. I am seeding now, having completed the download. I am using uTorrent 3.4.1 so you shouldn’t have a problem with uTorrent.

      • oxforddickie September 3, 2014 at 14:17 #

As long as it’s set up right. No more clues!

  11. gregtanner September 3, 2014 at 11:30 #

That’s what i love about this blog… every now and then there are welcome surprises… being a guitarist this one is right up my alley… much appreciated O.D.
