I enjoyed this, definitely a bit Yeeha! cowboy music to UK tastes. The quad seems more than just live recording of the auditorium since there are instruments in the rear. It’s quite effective.

Can you believe I traded my tickets to Neil Young at Royce Hall, where he recorded live Needle and Damage Done, for Poco at the Troubador? Messina had just left, but he got the job for his roommate, Paul Cotton of Illinois Speed Press. I believe opener was this nervous guy, never heard of him, who sang this really long song, never heard it before but it went on for ten minutes..”drove my Chevy to the levy but the levy was dry; them good old boys was drinking whiskey and rye..”,

I’m a bit late, but nice story! Always good to see somebody before they were well known.

Thanks for the resp. The weird thing was a year later listening to the radio and knowing the words to the new song, but not remembering how I knew them. Bye Bye, Ms. American Pie, drove..” Very strange feeling

Wow, a popular band SQ CD. I thought you said you’d released all the popular stuff that was on SQ CD? Or is it a case of tracking down the last few rare discs?

Yea, just when i think i’ve exhausted all the possibilities another pops up. I’m taking back what i said, there’s now some classical, stereo only, SQ encoded SACD’s out there …….

Not related to this release, but an SQ encoded stereo only SACD is a strange thing. If they’ve got the quad masters why didn’t they put the quad on as multi channel as well? But anyway, here’s hoping the SACDs are good transfers from high quality masters.

There’s no logic to what these companies do. The two i’ve listened to are the closest to having the master tapes at home, i’m hoping the decodes will be just as good
