Finally something to put next to the excellent Superpickers quad release. This one sounds amazing as always.

Great sound quality here, this one shows what Q8 is capable of with a good tape. Well played by Atkins, and some nice use of quad for the mix. Good transfer Captain, I look forward to more.

And with that I’ve just about cleared my quad blog listening backlog, being off work sick will do that for you. Just DS322f to go, and then some legacy releases from the old blog starting from DS190f and working backwards.

A real beauty in both sound and content. Already in love with it, and I haven’t even listened to the whole thing yet. Thanks for the another job well done.

It is comments such as yours that keeps me keeping on. I cannot take any credit for the sound or content just the effort to turn a Q8 into a DVD-A. Thanks again for your appreciation. And thank you too OD from all of us for everything you do here.

Ahh… just realized song 09 – El Paso is missing… was this song damaged on the Q8 ?

    • captainbeyond55 November 29, 2013 at 22:43 #

Thank you for noticing this oversight. The missing chapter point for El Paso has been added with this revised release. Please pardon any inconvenience this may have caused.

Thanx for this post… good separation too with the lead guitar on the front L&R channels… noticed though that there are 12 songs on the album but only 11 songs in the VIDEO & AUDIO_TS folders… just want to ask which song is missing… song 12 ?

Very nice to see another “masterpicker “;)

I found a dvd recording from an old VHS tape from USA with him and Mark Knopfler (and more..) It would be great if they reissue this on dvd from original source.. (but the video is not bad at all, only the sound is obvious linear stereo and has sometimes sever azimuth problems..)

The VHS title you mention is called Chet Atkins & Friends “Music from the Heart”. This 1987 Cinemax Sessions television special was filmed live in Nashville with Chet Atkins featuring Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, The Everly Brothers, Willie Nelson, Michael McDonald, Emmylou Harris, & Waylon Jennings. A pleasant way to spend 60 minutes with Chet & Mark preforming ‘Imagine’ a standout.
