Great work with the transfer, but for me the Quad doesn’t add anything to the Stereo version. If anything it sounds a bit of a mess at times, as Fusion is complex, played in awkward time signatures, and this doesn’t necessarily come across that well in this mix.I think it is the mix rather than anything else as Floyd’s Atom Heart is very complex, yet that Quad transfer sounds superb.

Well this is pretty freaky, a great listen. In places I’m reminded of Ozric Tentacles, but there’s more use of minor keys here than the Ozrics. There’s some great drumming throughout but especially track 7. Plenty of rear channel stuff to keep quad fans happy.

Front left sounds fine on my system, not weak at all (referring to the previous poster’s problem).

Now I’m chuffed! I’ve been waiting for this one for such a long time. Many many thanks OD.

One thing though: does the front left channel play very low compared to the rest? It’s very obvious on the second solo in Birds Of Fire which sounds very muffled. It can be my system but I find very strange that the second solo would be so surreptitious that someone not acquainted with this album would barely notice it. On the other hand it can be the mix, but it still sounds very bizarre and rather illogical to me.

Well, I’ve checked my system and indeed the left channel sounds softer than the right. It’s not so dramatic hence I’ve never noticed it before (it’s more home theatre oriented, and rather cheap, and my room configuration is a disaster). I suppose that the second solo sounds also rather soft therefore with both factors added together it almost disappears.

Awesome. Been waiting for this one. You rule as usual OD! Thanks.

re: Spectrum. It was released as a 5.1 DVD-A which does sound pretty damn great.

Thanks for posting this classic, jazz rock fusion release. This music is incredibly spirited, appreciate your efforts!

It actually wasn’t released, although there is proof it was mixed in quad because one track was includedon a european sampler. Am hoping to release this in the future
