O.D., I know this is one of your older decodes, but it is powerful for a classic album like this. Essential in stereo and quad, this version just allows all of the great reverb from the multitracks to shine through, especially on “Uncle Salty”.

Apparently the Q8 had a different track order?

I noticed that Q8 (and 8-Track) often have a different track order. I don’t know much about the format—apart that they can sound rather good given the medium, or the worst one can come by all media type ever produced included. Well maybe not wax cylinder, but you get the idea—so I might be wrong, lease correct me if so, but I think it’s due to the rather short playing time on each side making it not always possible to reproduce the exact track order found on the LP.

Your assumption correct. 8 tracks often have different running orders to fit the length of the tape. Not entirely unknown with cassettes, either.

The first time I listened to this was a TRUE revelation, I always considered myself an Aerosmith fan, but this was a real treat. You can really hear the work that went into both the recording and the performances. It has some of the best bass sounds this side of the Doobies or the Beach Boys and if you have heard the decodes from this blog you know that is saying something!

THis plays really well. Pity the mix misses the r'n'r power of the stereo version. nevertheless it works a treat on the gentler tracks. Thanks OD.

I have some Streisand, and a few soundtracks which should see the light of day in 2013.

Also do keep in mind there were only a very small number of quad releases in the early 80's, most company's had stopped quad releases by the late 70's

Do you have anything from, like the 80's. Maybe film soundtracks, possibly Marilyn Bergman type stuff?
Any Babs and Robert Redford quad material? Thanks.
