Thanks so much for this! Now I can take that Frankensteiny SACD and sell it on eBay for $150!

Phew!! Does it really go for that much? Silly money.

Indeed. There’s a rabid collector’s market for those out-of-print SACD and DVD-A titles. Great for me when I find things here that better what I own on commercially released hirez discs 😉

Who’s that lady in quad is a true gem OD, thanks for digging this one out of the vaults.

This was fun, and a couple of famous tracks that I know but never knew who they were by. The quality of the discrete SACD source shows, sound quality is beyond reproach.

    The answer is above you….

Sounds fantastic. What is the source for this? great separation if it's from SQ.

I've lived with the SACD for years and hearing this version restored to it's original form is fantastic.

Great work and a big thank you.

Man, what sound!!!! Its a different mix than 2 channel, much more organic, less over produced. I LOVE IT. Thanks. (now go take the little woman to see The Italianate Village in Porthmadog; we vultures will still be here).

This release returns the butcherd SACD release back to it's original quadraphnic version – as it was meant to be heard. THANK YOU FOR THAT. Whether its Sony or the Moodies, I hate these quad faked into 5.1. Especially since my center speaker is onthe fritz!!! This will be a welcome addition, along with Yes. Thanks. And take some time to smell the roses!!!

Not really sure what you mean, but here's some facts regarding the quad mixes of tht period:

Most quad mixes differ to some extend when comparing them to the stereo versions. Sometimes its additional instruments, missing instruments or different takes being used.

The SACD of this album was in fact a fake 5.1 release. It was not a true re-mix, all that was done was a CF & LFE channels were created from the original four channel master. No other changes were made.

This release returns the butcherd SACD release back to it's original quadraphnic version – as it was meant to be heard.

Ok…. I admit that I have no facts to base my previous comment on other than when I made the backup copy of my own SACD there's a nasty appearance of rear channels several seconds into 'What it comes down to', which I put down to a mastering error. It certainly may well be like that on the original.. I don't know…

What are you comparing your SACD to?

  12. Geezerjem December 9, 2012 at 20:10 #

My SACD has rear channel bits missing, what's the source for this OD ?
